Val Pusteria with children? There is something for everyone

Adventure parks, trips to discover the animals of the forests, fun bobs and alpine descents: there is only the embarrassment of the choice when we try to discover how to spend some time having fun in Val Pusteria with the children! Especially in the summer, when skiing is difficult and nature is luxuriant around us and our families, going out and discovering the beauty of the area's tourist offer is always a good idea. Here are some tips!

Val Pusteria is the sunniest area in South Tyrol and allows us to enjoy beautiful lights and contrasts perfect for open-air adventures.

In San Candido between gnomes and fairies

In front of the Dolomites that serve as sentinels, the city of San Candido often means relaxation, and life in the Val Pusteria. Taking the chairlift that takes us to Monte Baranci, the perfect adventure awaits us to experience the Val Pusteria with the children: the Gnome Village. A set of wooden houses in the middle of the woods, some reachable only by climbing the stairs or following the splendid rope bridges, where it will seem to be really in the company of gnomes and fairies. Take advantage of the on-site recreational art workshops, or take a dip in the two ponds below the village. It is said that they were born from the footprints left by a gentle giant walking the valley.

Why use the chair lift when we can go down with the FunBob? Almost two kilometers of bobsled track that takes us back home through the forest. An experience not to be missed, even for adults! On the same style, getting closer to Lienz, to the Moosalm, we can go to the Alpine Coaster Osttirodler, a toboggan run that is open all year round and is 2.7 km long.

Among the many walks, the excursion to Prato Piazza, in the Val di Braies area, can also be done with strollers. Lunch in a hut and a large area for children to play.

Also in San Candido is the Aquafun, where children under three are free

Dobbiaco: the magic of the forest

In our itinerary of the Val Pusteria with the children we find the Village of trees, where one of the most beautiful dreams of children becomes reality: tree houses. Connected by bridges, slides, secret passages, and with lots of recreational activities to discover, children will become one with life in the woods.

If we want to be even closer to nature, we absolutely have to visit the Gustav Mahler Zoological Park and visit friends owls, raccoons, deer, roe deer and many other species that live here in peace. In some cases there is also the possibility of feeding him.

The charm of legends

Being in Val Pusteria with children is easy, just follow the footsteps of legends! After gnomes and animals, we follow the path of the Elves in the Vandoies of Sopra. A path made of magic and surprise, which from the church of San Niccolò enters the wood and leads us to discover these tiny houses populated by small elves of the area. 3 km and a half that can be traveled partly with strollers, up to at least the waterfall.
