Location of the Dolomites: the splendor of the Braies Valley

The places in the Valley are among the most beautiful scenery in the Alps, between Dolomite peaks and an enchanted lake. So much so that the location was chosen to shoot the television series "A step from the sky" broadcast on Italian TV. Among the towns to visit we find San Vito and Ferrara.

In the Valley, there is the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park: 25,453 hectares, declared a protected area in 1980, which is home to an enormous vastness of flora and fauna including stone martens, marmots and many other animals. For lovers of geology, the Park presents real peculiarities of the karst phenomenon, one of the most interesting on the earth. This is the theme of one of the guided tours that allow you to explore the Valley and learn about its stories and secrets.

Even in winter the valley is a perfect holiday destination. Thanks to the cross-country trails and beautiful ski slopes for the whole family, kilometers and kilometers of winter trails, numerous tours and, for the most romantic, long rides on horse-drawn sleighs!

The Braies Valley is made up of two valleys that enter the heart of the Dolomites, called Braies di Dentro and Braies di Fuori. In Braies di Fuori you can enjoy the view of the mountains and the Braies Dolomites including the Croda Rossa, unforgettable precisely for its red light.

We have already talked about Lake Braies at this link, and it is surrounded by many hiking trails ideal for both walks and real trekking routes. Around the Braies Valley it is also possible to get to know the old farms, the villages scattered around the valley, and find a place to take advantage of the thermal baths, such as the spring of Bagni di Braies Vecchia, useful for fighting rheumatism.
