The Feasts of Italian
These joyful celebrations give all the participants the opportunity to meet alongside the days of the concerts. Traditionally, starting on Thursday, the celebrations take place every day during the festival.
WELCOME PARTY (Plan de Corones, Thursday)
The Tyrolean feast will take place on Thursday June 20 at 10:30 on the top of Plan de Corones, at an altitude of 2,275 meters. The choirs will reach the top of Plan de Corones. A stage is set up under the big ‘Campana della Concordia’ (the second biggest Italian bell after the bell of Rovereto) where each choir will sing a piece. At the end of the performances, the three-meter diameter bell will start moving and all the participants will be able to listen to its musical tolling.
TYROLEAN FESTIVAL (Villabassa, Friday)
The Tyrolean feast will take place on Friday June 21 in Von Kurz square, Villabassa. The feast starts at 20.00 and goes on till night; the square will be full of stands displaying typical food products and handicrafts from Val Pusteria. During the feast, there will be an ‘Outdoor Shows’ of popular choral music at 21:00 and the performances of Tyrolean folkloric groups followed by the ‘Night of the Choirs’ as from 23:30.
THE CHOIRS PARADE (San Candido, Saturday)
The choirs parade is the most spectacular event of the Festival: it will take place on Saturday June 22 in San Candido. All the participating choirs will parade in uniform along the streets of the town and will gather in Piazza del Magistrato, in the centre of San Candido, for the mayor’s official greetings. The parade is followed by a choral performance all together.
CELEBRATION PARTY (Sixth, Sunday)
It’s the closing ceremony and will take place on Sunday June 23 in Sesto, at 10:30 am. During the ceremony, the choirs’ conductors will come up on the stage before the Casa Sesto to be awarded the certificate of participation.
